Our history


The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) founded Investor Education Fund (IEF) in 2000 to improve financial literacy and investor education in Ontario. Investor Education Fund became a leader in investor research on topics such as investor attitudes and retirement. was established by Investor Education Fund in 2003 as a consumer website to provide unbiased and independent financial tools to help investors make better financial decisions.

2015 to present

On November 26, 2014, the OSC announced the joining of the Office of the Investor and Investor Education Fund, to form the new Investor Office, effective April 1, 2015.

The Investor Office sets the strategic direction and leads the OSC’s efforts in investor engagement, education, outreach and research. The Office also brings the investor perspective to policy-making and operations. Visit to learn more.
