Do I need a financial adviser, or should I do my own research?

When you are looking for help and information, there are two main sources:

  1. Financial advisers you can talk to. Learn more now
  2. Print material and online content that you can read, like brochures and websites. Learn more now

There are advantages and drawbacks to each of these ways of getting information. Many people combine both. In the end, it will be up to you to consider your own needs and goals, and use the sources that are best able to help you.

Remember: You decide how much work you want to do on your own.

Some people turn all the decisions over to an adviser. Others like to do their own research. But many investors do a little of both. They read about different investments on the web, then work with an adviser to decide which choices are right for them.
