More about fees

For mutual fund fees:
The mutual fund company you invest in hires a group of people to manage your investment in the fund and keep records of your account. You pay their salaries and expenses through various fees. To find out more about these fees, see your fund's simplified prospectus.

For stocks:
Commission may be negotiable with a full-service broker. In general, discount brokers will charge lower commissions than full-service brokers. That's because full-service brokers offer expert advice. Find out more from your investment firm or your financial adviser.

For bonds:
The fees you pay when you buy or sell bonds are included in the price. Markups can be anywhere from 1 to 5 per cent. To find out what you are paying, ask your adviser.
